The Meadow House Restaurant, Berwick-upon-Tweed, England

What a great find The Meadow House Restaurant, Berwick-upon-Tweed, England is!  I was travelling South from Scotland to England on the A1 with my husband and my mother, who is disabled. Access to the restaurant (and the bar although we only visited the restaurant) was easy for my mother. The service was pleasant but unobtrusive. I teased the others for ordering rib-eye steaks at lunchtime saying it would be too much to eat.

I ordered the ploughman’s platter that I thought was more appropriate. When the steaks arrived, perfectly cooked on enormous platters with freshly cooked onion rings chips and vegetables. They were thrilled with their meals. When my ploughman’s platter arrived the meat eaters had the last laugh! It was huge and fresh and delicious. The meal was unusual in that the cheeses were brie and edam; the pickled onions tasted home made and the salad mixed and varied.

The coffee was freshly made too. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. We passed this restaurant on the way home. Our meals were equally good and the waiter recognised us. That is good service! We will make a point of passing The Meadow House Restaurant again, but we will stop and eat: never pass by. I highly recommend this establishment.
